Free Accounts

Yes, we offer businesses completely FREE web listings. Any place that fits into one of the categories listed below is entitled to a 100% free listing on the site. This free listing can provide a good amount of information about your business.

With your listing you also get a simple web address that you can give out to people who need directions or further information about your business. eg, the Russell Cotes Museum profile is http://www.seebournemouth.net/russellcotes

Adding your business to the map

Adding your own business to the map is straightforward.
  • Register for a free user account
  • Select Add Place from the menu
More details on adding places and profiles are available in the Help section.

Place Rank

How rank is assigned
  • Each new place added to the map is assigned a default rank of 1
  • When a user activates a business the rank increases to 1
  • Buying a paid listing increases your rank to 20
  • Adding a new place to the map, or adding a new image, link or event to the map increases the rank of the user's registered place by 1
  • Some places are assigned an initial rank based on their landmark status.
How rank is used on the map
  • When several places occupy a small map area, the markers are clustered. i.e. only one marker is used. The top ranking place name is displayed in the tooltip and the info window for the marker. Other places are listed on the infowindow 'nearby' tab.
  • In Firefox, highest ranking markers overlap lower ranking markers
  • Chances of inclusion in the featured places list is improved for higher rank places.

Boosting the rank of your place

There are 3 ways to boost the rank of your registered place(s):

(1) Subscribe for a paid listing at only £ 10 per year.
(2) Add places, images, links and events to the map.
(3) Do Both (1) and (2) to get the best place ranking.

Activate your free profile

To register your business for a free listing :

1. Contact the site administrator by email or post to confirm you are the owner or manager.
2. We will send you a PIN code.
3. Goto the 'Account' section of the site and enter your PIN code to activate your business.
4. Now click on 'My Places' to edit the profile of your site.

You will then be able to edit all information related to your business, add photos, scans, links and events to your profile.

Upgrade to a paid profile (Coming soon)

1. Make a payment to SeeBournemouth.Net through Paypal. Include in the email your user name and the name, address and postcode of your business and what category it belongs to.
2. We will send you a receipt and PIN code if you have not already activated your profile.
3. Goto the 'Account' section of the site and enter your PIN code to activate your business.
4. Now click on 'My Places' to edit the profile of your site.


Getting a paid profile gives the following benefits :

1. No adverts in your profile.
2. Up to 6 images included in the profile (instead of the default 2). This lets you display the exterior and interior of premises plus menu or brochure scans.
3. Include your events in the site upcoming events calendar.
4. Increased prominence of your place marker on the map (see 'place ranks' below).
5. Your business will be included in the selection list for the featured places section where up to 25 places are displayed on the home page.
6. Keywords in your profile page to improve your page's ranking with search engines such as Google.

Further benefits for paid profiles are under development. If you need any custom features added please contact us with any suggestions. We will also soon be adding other means of payment.
